In Pursuit of The Elusive Horizon

I am a dreamer. My head and my heart spend a lot of time in the realm of currently-unrealized possibilities. I love to think about what could be, what should be. I live in the present as it is. I study the past as it was. I imagine the future as it could be. I think I am a realist but I’m sure that I am an idealist. It’s not OK to be OK with things that are not OK.

The absolute best in each of us comes out when we find the wrong we are meant to make right.

When we realize that the evil we see around us is within us.

When we acknowledge our weakness and inability to be the people we dream of being.

When we find the beauty that we are called to create.

When we turn off our brain’s “autopilot feature” and take responsibility for the part we have played in creating our current reality.

When we embrace the truth of “as I think so I am” (Prov 23:7), acknowledging that circumstances don’t cause my feelings or responses, I do.

When we break out of the culturally-prevalent epidemic of entitlement that makes us believe we deserve joy, success, popularity, honor, etc... and that others are withholding what we need or at least blocking it.

When we decide to stop coasting.

One of the things that fuels an interesting, energizing, rarely–boring life is the pursuit of a future for oneself and others that is an improvement upon the past.
